The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are confused as to why Sam Allardyce is still in charge at Goodison Park. The Toffees stick by the fact that they never wanted Big Sam on Merseyside and have continued to tear into the experienced gaffer whenever the opportunity arises. This time, it’s been whilst Allardyce provides the fans with the latest update on injuries to Gylfi Sigurdsson, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Phil Jagielka. You can listen to Big Sam’s press conference on Everton’s Youtube channel.

Everton fans had high expectations coming into this season. Despite losing their 25-goal striker, Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the club were expectant of European football after spending over £200 million on players. However, it wasn’t to be for a number of their signings as Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane, Nikola Vlasic and Sandro Ramirez have all fallen below expectation with the club languishing eight points off 7th and a potential Europa League place.
The club did look to be getting back on track after firing Koeman and appointing Allardyce, until star man, Gylfi Sigurdsson suffered an injury in the club’s 2-0 win over Brighton. The Icelandic international with over 50 caps sustained a knee injury in the first half, yet continued to play all 90 minutes, later finding out he might miss the World Cup through injury. Now though it seems Sigurdsson might play before the end of the Premier League season, with Sam Allardyce describing it as touch and go.
