Manchester City supporters have been making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side thump Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to extend their winning return in the Premier League to 16 matches.
Pep Guardiola’s men broke Arsenal’s long-standing record of 15 successive top-flight victories with a 4-0 thrashing of Swansea City in midweek, and the Citizens continued their relentless march towards a third title in six years by sweeping aside Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs on Saturday. A brace from Raheem Sterling as well as strikes from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne sealed a comprehensive win for the table-toppers, with Christian Eriksen’s late effort nothing more than a consolation for a Spurs team which were simply outplayed by the seemingly inevitable Premier League champions of 2017/18.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Citizens fans in the Tavern in the last few days, and the good times look set to continue if a recent report from The Sun is anything to go by, which details a significant boost in their quest to land Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
The 28-year-old sees his current contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in the summer and as of yet has no agreed an extension, plunging his future at the North London giants into huge doubt ahead of the January transfer window.
And with City reportedly having kept tabs on him for a while, what with Guardiola reportedly seeking a reunion with the Chile international following their time together at Barcelona, recent reports outline a potentially big boost for the Citizens in pursuit of the forward as the 28-year-old has reportedly rejected a mega money offer from China to try and move to City.
And with the January transfer window just two weeks away, things are certainly looking promising in the Citizens’ chase to land Sanchez in 2018.
Landlord’s verdict: Alexis Sanchez’s contract situation at Arsenal has been in the news for a while now, with it almost certain that he will not extend his current deal beyond the summer.
And Manchester City are one side reportedly seeking to lure the Chile international away from the Emirates Stadium, and they may have received another big boost as the 28-year-old has reportedly rejected a mega money offer from China in a bid to move to the Etihad Stadium.
And with Pep Guardiola’s side 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League, and very much in the hunt to land a player who scored 30 goals last season, good times look set to continue for our resident City fans going into 2018.
