‘Most underrated players in the league’ – Fans lose it as Saints duo shine on international stage

The Southampton fans here are always proud to talk about their academy and work with young players, and with the U21 European Championships showing on the screens here in the Football Transfer Tavern, they are getting every chance to do so.

In Aidy Boothroyd’s side there are four Saints players; captain James Ward-Prowse, defender Jack Stephens and full-back Matt Targett from their famed academy, as well as winger Nathan Redmond who joined from Norwich last summer.

Swansea defender Alfie Mawson’s second half goal got things back on level terms before Ward-Prowse and Redmond combined for a fantastic 81st minute winner in Poland.

A superb ball from the Saints midfielder found the former Norwich man out wide before he cut in and rattled off a fine finish to take all three-points, and fans on Twitter have taken notice…
