‘MOTM for me’, ‘Kept PL winner quiet’ – Man City fans on Twitter heap praise on youngster after Leicester victory

The Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are delighted that their hopes of securing an unlikely quadruple this season remain in tact after their Carabao Cup victory over Leicester City.

For the second time this season, Manchester City needed penalties to secure their passage into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup after drawing 1-1 with Leicester. Pep Guardiola opted to field a significantly weakened team for their midweek fixture, with the likes of Foden, Diaz and Adarabioyo all included in his starting eleven with City’s clash with Bournemouth on Saturday firmly in the Spaniard’s mind.

There was also a place for Oleksandr Zinchenko in City’s starting line-up, as the Ukrainian made only his 3rd appearance of the season for the club after returning from his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in the summer.

During his season-long loan in Holland, Zinchenko made appearances for PSV’s first team in the Eredivisie and for the U21 team in the Jupiler League.

The Ukrainian international managed to lay on 13 assists from his 24 appearances whilst operating in a variety of attacking midfield roles, however, he was deployed as a left-back for City last night and tasked with marking Marc Albrighton.

But despite playing out of his natural position, Zinchenko put in a fantastic display and looked eager to be involved throughout proceedings.

His contribution has been duly noted by The Citizens faithful on Twitter who lauded his performance following their club’s victory.

Here’s what the City supporters had to say about Zinchenko’s performance last night…
