The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see some more new signings coming through the doors at Old Trafford after the announcement of Swedish defender Victor Lindelof last month.
The name on everyone’s lips here in the bar is that of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and, while our landlord is keen to assure everyone that it’s a deal which will likely run for a long time to come, it seems United have been told what it will take to finalise the move.
According to reports from Marca (via Daily Express) in Spain the Galacticos are holding firm in their stance and have told the powers that be in Manchester £79m remains the asking price for the 24-year-old and it is a price which will not be lowered.
As it stands United are willing to fork out around £61m for the Spanish international, who made the switch back to Madrid from Juventus for a bargain fee of around £30m last summer.
The resident United fans here in the Tavern are begging both Mourinho and Ed Woodward to meet the asking price and get the deal over the line as soon as possible.
