The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful of a Premier League title challenge this season…
They’ve made an excellent start to the season so far, picking up win-after-win, with a draw thrown in, to fire themselves straight to the top of the Premier League table.
Man Utd’s season so far hasn’t been all plain sailing, though, with Jose Mourinho having to battle through a number of situations. The most notable of these came at Stoke City, with the Red Devils unable to break down the Potters’ defence – leading to a 2-2 draw.
Their season looks set to get a little harder over the coming weeks, too, with Paul Pogba currently out of action having suffered an injury in Man Utd’s first Champions League game of the season. Reports initially indicated that he could be out for over a month, but Jose Mourinho has moved to calm those fears.
Speaking to the Man Utd website, he said: “I don’t know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days, honestly…Any comment or any new rumour is totally wrong because we don’t know if it is 12 weeks or 12 days”.
Elaborating on the current plans to deal with his injury, Mourinho said: “The decision was one more week to wait to see really clearly in the scans, that I mentioned, of the injury”.
Whilst Mourinho isn’t necessarily being optimistic, he is suggesting that it’s far from certain that Pogba will be out for an extended period of time – and that can be seen as positive news.
However, it’s still a problem for the Red Devils as he appears no closer to a first-team return.
Man Utd’s midfield is full of options, and so Paul Pogba’s injury won’t affect their plans too much.
It’s frustrating, though, as the Frenchman was finally picking up his form and impressing. Now, though, he will have to go back to step one upon his return.
The season is looking good for Man Utd, though.
