Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have had their fears allayed by reports in the Daily Star, that claim Jose Mourinho has dismissed any suggestions Real Madrid could sign Blues midfielder Ramires this summer.
Reports had suggested that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was ready to swoop on his former club to sign the Brazilian, who he brought to west London in 2010.
Ancelotti is said to have told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wanted to sign both Ramires and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, following their Champions League success last month.
But reports in Spain suggest Mourinho is in no mood to do business with his former club, having failed to renew Frank Lampard’s contract at Stamford Bridge, and sanctioned the £50million sale of David Luiz to Paris St Germain.
Ramires has been a key player for Chelsea since his £17million arrival in 2010, clocking up 196 appearances so far.
The Brazilian international – who is currently preparing for the World Cup – is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2017, having signed an extension in 2012.
Mourinho is instead focusing on new signings, with three reportedly coming from Atletico Madrid.
A deal for Spanish striker Diego Costa is all but complete, whilst Atletico teammates Felipe Luis and Tiago could also be on their way to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also close to agreeing a deal to bring Cesc Fabregas to Stamford Bridge, with the Spaniard thought to have agreed a four-year-contract that will see him pocket £8.1million a year.
