Mourinho identifies 27-year-old as player that could help turn Man Utd around – report

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are ready for Jose Mourinho to spend even more money at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager has overseen a lot of spending already since moving to Manchester, but it’s clear that he still has a lot of work on his hands.

The Red Devils have stumbled over the last couple of months, with Jose Mourinho’s men turning from Premier League title challengers into top four strugglers.

In an ideal world, they’ll be back amongst the title-chasing pack next season, but for that to happen, Mourinho needs to bring in a few new faces, and according to the Daily Star, he’s planning to do just that.

The Daily Star is reporting that Mourinho is targeting Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey this summer, with the Welshman said to be considering his long-term future at the Emirates.

Significantly, Mourinho apparently sees him as a player that could help turn Man Utd’s team around, with his high work-rate, excellent movement and technique viewed as key components to the Red Devils boss’ plans.

Ramsey has been a solid option for Arsenal this season, providing decent energy and an offensive threat through the heart of the midfield. It hasn’t been a great season for the Gunners, all told, but the Welshman has been one of the more impressive players.

Man Utd’s midfield is undoubtedly a weak point in the team, given Paul Pogba’s struggles, and so the addition of another midfielder could give Mourinho the edge that he needs. Whether Arsenal will even consider selling him this summer, though, remains to be seen.

Landlord’s Verdict

It’s hard to see Arsenal selling Ramsey to their Premier League rivals, but stranger things have happened in the Premier League. After all, Alexis Sanchez completed the exact same transfer earlier this year, and Ramsey’s contract situation is eerily reminiscent of what Sanchez’s was at the Emirates.

He’d certainly offer the energy that Man Utd are lacking at present, even if he would demand a significant sum of money.
