For the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, Marcus Rashford has the potential to become one of Europe’s best. He has been continually impressive since arriving on the scene at Old Trafford – but it hasn’t been plain sailing for him at Old Trafford.
Particularly since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, he has often had to settle for a role on the bench, and that’s not what he needs as he looks to continue his development. Indeed, it’s becoming a bit of a concern for him it seems, with the Sun reporting a few days ago that concern over his future has him reconsidering the prospect of contract talks at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho, it seems, is the cause of his uncertainty, and after thinking about it for a few days, it’s clear that if the Portuguese’s decision to not fully back the Englishman leads to a departure, it could go down as one of the biggest mistakes of his career, and it would undoubtedly be the biggest failing of his Man Utd tenure.
After all, on his day, Marcus Rashford is absolutely unstoppable. The Englishman has dazzled down the flanks and through the middle over the last couple of years, and his efficiency in front of goal is evident. He has scored a handful of goals every year since he burst onto the scene, and he’s yet to really earn a regular starting berth in that time. There’s no telling how useful he could be if he was used properly.
Let’s not forget, too, that he is just 20-years-old. If Mourinho were to let him go, Man Utd wouldn’t just be losing current ability – they would also be losing incredible potential.
Jose Mourinho has a reputation for being overly focused on proven players instead of investing in youth. If he does the same again, it would be a colossal failure.
