Mourinho lines-up quality striker as first Man United signing

Mauro IcardiManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were gutted at the weekend to see their solid run brought to a close by West Brom and it’s led to the lads by the pool table discussing once again the impending changes this summer.

With Jose Mourinho widely expected to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford, The Daily Star says the Portuguese boss’ first signing for the Red Devils will be that of Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi.

23-year-old Icardi, captain for Inter, has thoroughly impressed in recent seasons and has become one of the most sought after young strikers in European football.

Whilst the Italian side want to keep the young forward at the San Siro, failure to achieve a top three finish in the Serie A, which comes alongside a Champions League place, may lead to the Argentine forward departing the club this summer.

Valued at around £35m, Icardi would present an expensive addition for Mourinho but he has the attributes to immediately succeed at Old Trafford and will continue to develop in the coming years.

Our landlord believes Premier League defenders will be shaking at the thought of defending against Anthony Martial and Icardi, stating the duo would present an excellent partnership.

United fans, should you splash such a large figure on Icardi? Let us know in the comments below!
