The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to wrap up a deal for Ivan Perisic…
The Red Devils have been linked with a move over the last few weeks, and a recent report from Sky Sports seemed to indicate that a deal was close, but as of yet there has been no such official announcement.
Now the Independent has provided an update on the matter, and it appears as though it is not going to be easy for the Red Devils to tie this deal up. It is said that Inter Milan are demanding £48 million for Perisic, and if the club aren’t willing to reach that number, then a player could be included in the deal to offset the reduced cost – with Anthony Martial reportedly on the radar of the Italian outfit.
It seems unlikely that Man Utd would be willing to part with the Golden Boy winner, despite his poor form over the last year or so, leaving the Red Devils in a tough spot with regards to this transfer.
Clearly, the Man Utd brass do not feel ready to cough up £48 million yet, and so creativity may need to be found as they look to seal the deal. Martial is, of course, an option – but the Man Utd squad is full of talent, so our landlord has suggested that another player could potentially be included.
That said, if nothing else, this report seems to highlight that this deal remains some way off, and it is far from a foregone conclusion. Man Utd are clearly keen, though, and so it is up to Jose Mourinho’s superiors to get a deal done.
