The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are dearly hoping Jose Mourinho will make some valuable additions to the United squad in January.
Manchester City once dubbed as United’s noisy neighbours are doing a whole lot more than making noise this season. Pep Guardiola’s side have raced into a colossal 15 point lead after just 20 matches and seemingly put the title in their hands with almost half the season still to play. At this stage, there is no point in Mourinho or United beating themselves up about their failure to challenge this season, but they must begin making the necessary changes that are required to prevent City from dominating once again next season.
United must begin by making plenty of high-quality signings in the next two transfer windows and clearing out players who are no longer up to the standard that is required to compete at the summit of the Premier League.
With that being said, the United supporters should be encouraged by reports in The Mirror, which claim Mourinho is trying to bring Juventus’ crown jewel namely Paulo Dybala to Old Trafford.
The signing of Dybala – who is valued at £62 million by Transfermarkt – would be perfect for United in their current circumstances, considering they are crying out for a number 10 with blistering pace, creative flair and an eye for goal.
Dybala would undoubtedly command an astronomical fee to prize him away from the Old Lady, but United should be willing to pay whatever it takes for talent of the highest quality if they want to close the gap on Man City.
Dybala is by far one of Europe’s top talents, and United simply must sign a handful of players of his calibre if they want to prevent their local-rivals from asserting their authority and dominating English football for years to come.
