Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have made no secret of their impatience regarding the club’s decision on management changes this summer but at least there seems to be some progress to lessen their worries.
The Manchester Evening News says Jose Mourinho is confident he will become the next Manchester United manager, with the Portuguese boss receiving a boost as assistant manager Ryan Giggs and club legend Sir Alex Ferguson have dropped their opposing views.
Mourinho has been the favourite to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford ever since his sacking by Chelsea in mid-December, though the views from influential United duo Sir Alex and Ryan Giggs were seen to be a problem.
Previously, their quest was to get Giggs promoted from his current role as assistant to Van Gaal but it now seems the Welshman will end his 28-year association with the Red Devils and begin his management career elsewhere.
With the pressure having intensified after Pep Guardiola was announced as Manchester City’s manager for next season, the landlord believes going with an experienced boss like Mourinho is the best approach although he does have his own concerns.
