Mourinho plotting cut rate deal as overhaul ploughs on

The Manchester United fans here in the bar at the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting another summer of marquee signings a manager Jose Mourinho looks to take them back to the top of the Premier League.

Despite winning two major trophies in his first season at the helm in Manchester the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss put in a poor showing in the League and will be keen to rectify that in his second season.

With that in mind, big changes are being planned at Old Trafford and while there are plenty of star names being linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams, a few will have to be leaving as well.

According to reports from The Telegraph, the United boss is ready to swing the axe and sell off defender Chris Smalling, as he looks to make room for the arrival of Swedish international Victor Lindelof.

Our landlord has noted that this is hardly a surprise. The England international has been the subject of criticism by Mourinho on more than one occasion and, at one time, saw his mental strength come under question from the Portuguese.

Furthermore, the club are looking to get a deal done quickly and will accept offers of around £15m, two million short of his current transfermarkt valuation.
