Man United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been so caught up the deal for Paul Pogba that they had completely forgotten that Jose Mourinho may also be chasing other targets. News has reached us here in the bar that the Red Devils are preparing to battle their noisy neighbours over a mammoth deal.
Reports from Spanish newspaper, AS (via Sport Witness) are claiming that both Man City and Man United are preparing to do battle with Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid over a deal for Bayern Munich star, David Alaba.
The Austrian international is the subject of serious interest from the Spanish giants, who are preparing a bid of €65m, however, Bayern have slapped a €80m price tag on their man to deter interested parties.
Both Mourinho and Guardiola will want to sure up their defences going into the new season and are prepared to spend big to do so.
However, our Landlord has pointed out that, with Man United reportedly closing in on their £110m deal for Paul Pogba, it seems unlikely that they would seek yet another expensive blockbuster signing this summer.
United and City fans, we want to hear from you! Could either club snatch Alaba from Madrid? Which side of Manchester is he more likely to end up on? Let us know below…
