The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will enjoy an impressive second-half of the season. The Red Devils have had a decent campaign so far, but a Premier League title win still seems like a tough ask.
Nonetheless, they’re still in the FA Cup, and they are still in the Champions League, meaning that there is a lot still to fight for.
According to Mourinho, Man Utd duo Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be fit to return by the time the competition returns, with the pair having missed much of the campaign so far through injury.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who rejoined Man Utd towards the end of last year after recovering from a long-term injury, has yet to feature much for the club in his second stint. Injuries have continued to plague him, and that’s been problematic for the Red Devils.
Likewise, Eric Bailly hasn’t had much luck with injury either, having failed to make it into double figures with regards to Premier League starts so far this season. He’s currently on 8 starts in the English top flight this term.
Nonetheless, the second-half of the season is the business end of the campaign, and so Mourinho could be set to get back two of his most important players just as the games begin to heat up.
This is huge for Man Utd.
Their squad is quite thin, and Bailly and Ibrahimovic are both massive players for the club.
A solid Champions League run is what Man Utd are after this year, and that goal will be made easier by their return. Mourinho will be hoping that they don’t suffer any more setbacks.
