The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are in early and ready for another week of top players being linked with a move to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to build a side capable of toppling champions Chelsea.
According to reports from Spanish outlet Don Balon, the former Blues manager could be about to spark the biggest transfer saga of the summer so far with a move for Barcelona superstar Neymar.
The Brazilian international, who nets a reported £250k-a-week at the Nou Camp, is supposedly growing frustrated with a lack of business from the Catalan club this summer and could be tempted away.
With that in mind, the Red Devils are prepared to meet his world-record breaking release clause of €200m (around £175m) in an attempt to turn the head of the 25-year-old.
United are not alone in their interest either, with French giants Paris Saint-Germain also ready to meet the asking price and bring the star to Paris.
The news has obviously got everyone in the Tavern talking, however, our landlord has warned that it’s rather unlikely that either of the club will fork out such a fee this summer.
