The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to beat Liverpool this weekend…
It’s a huge game for the Red Devils, not only because it will serve as a means to prove their quality, but also because a win will allow them to keep pace with Man City at the top of the table.
Indeed, the rivalry between the two clubs is also an important point to note, with so much emphasis placed on the fixture in the Transfer Tavern regardless of its significance in the context of the campaign.
We’re expecting a full house in the Transfer Tavern, and the neutrals will certainly be happy that a recent report from Sky Sports has confirmed that one superstar looks likely to feature for Man Utd. Conversely, the Liverpool fans in-house might be a little more concerned.
As confirmed by Roberto Martinez, the Belgium manager – via Sky Sports – Romelu Lukaku has been passed fit for Belgium’s game with Cyprus today (Tuesday) – meaning that he is also likely to be able to feature this weekend for his club. Martinez has described him as ‘100% fit’, meaning that he is in very good shape.
Jose Mourinho may be concerned that he may play so soon after an injury, but in reality, the manager can only take this as good news. If he’s it to play for his country, he will be fit to play for his club, and a bit of game time after a lay-off is only ever a good thing.
With a lack of genuine number nines at Old Trafford, this could be key for Mourinho’s tactical decisions against Liverpool this weekend.
Sure, Mourinho would prefer for him to be rested, but he’s got to look at this from the other side.
Martinez simply wouldn’t play him if he wasn’t fit, and so there is nothing to worry about in that regard. Besides that, Lukaku himself will also no doubt be keen to feature, so this works for everyone.
If he stays fit and scores a few goals, Mourinho will be delighted, and so he needs to react positively to this news.
