It has been a very exciting summer for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern…
The Red Devils have landed one of Europe’s best players in Romelu Lukaku, whilst the signing of Nemanja Matic also looked inspired.
Indeed, it’s looking set to be a fantastic season at Old Trafford, but it doesn’t appear as though Jose Mourinho’s spending is finished quite yet – at least if he gets his way.
According to Sky Sports, Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon is reportedly on Man Utd’s radar, with Mourinho said to be a ‘keen admirer’ of the teenager. It is noted that should he become available for a reasonable price, Man Utd could look to enter the race for the defender.
Significantly, Tottenham have been touted with a move as of late, meaning that either side will not have a clear route to his signature.
Though still a teenager, Sessegnon has really impressed in the Championship over the last 18 months or so, quickly emerging as a key figure for Fulham. Able to play both in defence and in the attack, his versatility is key, whilst his skill ceiling remains very high indeed.
Undoubtedly a talent for the future, Sessegnon looks destined to be a star, and Mourinho clearly wants to bring him in.
Sessegnon is one of Europe’s finest young players, and Old Trafford has a rich history of developing budding footballers.
He would struggle to find a better defensive manager than Jose Mourinho to learn his trade, but he may also find opportunities limited.
With the likes of Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian vying for a starting berth on the left-hand side, it would be a test for the defender – but it would be one that he is definitely up to if he gets the chance.
