Unfortunately for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, it appears as though the cracks are beginning to show in the relationship between their club and Jose Mourinho. Though he’s a popular man amongst Man Utd supporters, there is no doubting that he is a divisive figure, and it appears as though the Portuguese is beginning to butt heads with the Red Devils’ brass.
According to Don Balon, Mourinho is at loggerheads with the Man Utd bosses over their failed pursuit of Gareth Bale. Mourinho reportedly wants the Welsh wing wizard, but a move appears very unlikely with the club refusing to do a deal. With the club apparently citing Bale’s injury issues as the reason for not attempting to sign him, Mourinho clearly isn’t happy.
This, of course, isn’t the first time that Mourinho has had difficulties with his higher-ups over transfer dealings, with similar issues arising during his spell at Chelsea, with the manager said to have been ‘less than impressed’ by the deals at his former club.
Still, it’s frustrating that the issues are arising, particularly when the Red Devils are doing pretty well on the field. They’re in and amongst it at the top of the Premier League table, and with big players like Paul Pogba set to return in the future, they’re only going to get better.
One thing’s for sure, though: They would be a far more efficient outfit with Gareth Bale leading the charge on the flanks.
On his day, Gareth Bale is one of Europe’s best. Lethal pace, deadly goalscoring and impressive technical ability, he has proven his quality in both Spain and England.
However, there is no denying his injury record, and given how big of an investment it would take to bring him in, Man Utd’s concerns are evidently justified.
That said, it must be frustrating for Mourinho – and so it remains to be seen how this will turn out.
