Mourinho reportedly still has big plans for Man Utd this summer

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern still want a few players to move to Old Trafford this summer…

It has been a very good summer so far, with key signings like Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof undoubtedly set to make a splash in a red shirt, but the fans in the pub are still debating over who else they want to join.

It seems that Jose Mourinho is having those very same conversations with his advisors, with Manchester Evening News reporting that Man Utd are still keen to land a couple of players this summer. Mourinho clearly still has big plans before the window shuts. Both Ivan Perisic and Danny Rose are mentioned by name in the report, so it appears as though improvement is still desired in the defence and the attack.

Man Utd have already been busy this summer, but they struggled to compete in the Premier League last season, and so it was clear that major improvement was always needed.

When you add the prospect of European football, it becomes clear that there is a clear need not only for a strong first team, but also a squad with major depth – and a couple more signings could give Man Utd exactly that.

Landlord’s Verdict

Jose Mourinho has built a strong squad, but there is always room for improvement.

At present, the Red Devils lack a natural winger, and so a move for Ivan Perisic does make a lot of sense, with the Inter Milan wideman clearly one of Europe’s best in that role.

Similarly, Man Utd’s defence is not particularly blessed with depth, and with Luke Shaw struggling, a move for Rose does make a lot of sense.

Mourinho is an expert in the market, and he has bought well so far, and so our landlord is backing him to pick the right choices.
