Mourinho reunion the preference for £85m-rated forward

The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have not stopped talking about the prospect of Cristiano Ronaldo making a return to Old Trafford over the last couple of days, and reports reaching the bar today have only made that worse.

According to the Daily Record, the Real Madrid star would only want to make the move back to Manchester if he were to leave the Spanish capital this summer.

Last week reports emerged claiming that, having been accused of tax fraud, the four time Ballon d’Or winner wanted out of the Bernabeu and Spain in general.

While our landlord reckons that it will all come to nothing, for now it has sparked what promises to be the biggest transfer saga of the summer.

The £85m-rated superstar, who left United to become a Galactico in 2009, scored 188 goals in 291 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson during his time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ronaldo has history with compatriot and current United boss Jose Mourinho, as well. The Portuguese international made 164 appearances for the Special one, scoring 168 goals for Los Blancos in that time, only Sir Alex has worked with the forward more than Mourinho.

United fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Ronaldo will come back this summer? Let us know…
