It is well and truly the busiest time of the year here in the Football Transfer Tavern, with transfer rumours flying round left, right and centre!
The latest news coming into our landlord here in the Tavern is from Spanish outlet Marca, with the publication claiming that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has rejectedJose Mourinho’s advances about him joining the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most talented centre-backs in the world, and our landlord says that he can go on to become a club legend at the La Liga side.
This rejection will undoubtedly be a harsh blow to Jose Mourinho, who is used to things going the way he wants them to, and the majority of our resident United fans are a little gutted.
Ian, a hardcore Man United fan in the corner of the Tavern had this to say: “Varane is a great, great player, but I have faith in the gaffer that he’ll pull a rabbit out of the bag!”
The Spanish outlet claims offers of up to €40 million were placed for the Frenchman, but ultimately the Lille-born defender has opted to stay at the Spanish outfit, as he looks to progress and mature as a professional footballer.
