The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see manager Jose Mourinho land some big names after the initial addition of Swedish international Victor Lindelof.
With that in mind, there are encouraging reports reaching the bar from Spain this morning as Madrid based newspaper Marca are reporting that the Red Devils have stepped up their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
As per the report, Ed Woodward & Co. have lodged an increased bid of €75m, just €5m short of Los Blancos initial asking price, in an effort to seal their second signing of the summer.
Furthermore, the paper go on to claim that the deal could be finalised within hours, giving the resident United fans here in the Tavern cause for early celebration.
Mourinho has a strong record of landing exactly who he wants as United boss, having brought in all four of his top targets last summer, meaning that even though the claims of a deal being agreed today could well be premature, our landlord reckons it won’t be long before we see an announcement from Old Trafford.
