Mourinho targets England international as part of summer overhaul at Man United

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Ross Barkley might leave the club this summer as Ronald Koeman grows increasingly frustrated with the midfielder’s refusal to sign a new contract.

Ross Barkley only has one year left on his contract after this season and Everton might be tempted to cash in to avoid losing him on the cheap later.

And Manchester United have emerged as a surprise suitor, according to The Mirror.

With this report claiming that Barkley has been told to sign a £100k per week deal or be sold, Manchester United could be about to land their man.

Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the 23-year-old, who he tried to bring to Chelsea for £35m whilst he was there.

Ross Barkley has just finished a tough week by scoring in Everton’s win over Burnley – he was previously punched in the face at a nightclub and then he was the subject of a distasteful report by The Sun’s Kelvin Mackenzie.

The England international has clearly got bags of talent which he shows glimpses of with his attacking midfield performances for Everton but he has also been inconsistent.

Manchester United are looking to land him in a cut price deal this summer as one of a number of transfer deals.
