Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting to news that could see a club legend return to a position with the club, under the new era of Jose Mourinho.
The Sun states that Mourinho is keen for former defender Rio Ferdinand to join his backroom staff at Old Trafford next season, as the Portuguese boss sees the superstar-turned-pundit as crucial to getting United’s trajectory back on track.
Despite winning the FA Cup this season for the first time in over a decade, the season will be seen as disappointing after United failed to clinch their spot in the Champions League for next season- and suffered an early exit from this season’s competition.
Ferdinand has been approached but is yet to make a decision, though he’s excited for United’s venture under Mourinho after comments he made last week.
“This winner is a wounded animal which makes him such a mouth-watering appointment.”
Our landlord believes Ferdinand would be a solid choice to oversee improvements on United’s defensive line, which has struggled this season.
Would United improve with Ferdinand as a coach? Let us know in the comments below!
