It’s clear that the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for their club to find a solution to their Luke Shaw problem. Though popular amongst fans, Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to rate the Englishman, and so perhaps it’s time for him to move on.
Man Utd, though, need a top defender in his place, and they would struggle to do better than Monaco ace Jorge.
Jorge has risen to prominence in recent years amongst a number of prominent other stars like Kylian Mbappe and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Brazilian has taken over the mantle from Benjamin Mendy this term, and he has done so to tremendous effect. He’s been a regular this season, having made 22 appearances, and he has picked up 1 goal and 4 assists along the way. Like Mendy, he’s a brilliant attacker, offering a great range of passes and crosses both in and around the box.
Though his frame is relatively slight, he’s comfortable on the ball and is an expert dribbler, and Mourinho will love the fact that he’s such a willing runner down the wings. Equally comfortable at the back as he defensively, the Brazilian would cover all of the bases for Man Utd.
Rated at £13.5 million by Transfer Markt, he could be a decent value option for the club, though Monaco have, obviously, been eager to make big profits on many of their sales as of late.
At 22-years-old, he is – like Shaw – a player that is still developing. However, he has proven over the course of the last season that he has bags of talent, and Mourinho would be wise to harness it.
