Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been hoping that the arrival of Jose Mourinho would bolster their transfer plans and it certainly seems like this is the case.
Spanish outlet Marca state Mourinho has intensified Manchester United’s interest in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who is said to be unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu due to a lack of playing opportunities.
The 23-year-old Frenchman worked under Mourinho before, during the Portuguese boss’ ill-fated regime in the Spanish capital, and the young talent was a regular in Mourinho’s starting eleven, something which hasn’t been the case under Zinedine Zidane.
Varane made 29 appearances in all competitions last term but was regularly overlooked for big games, particularly in the Champions League, and that’s something the defender is said to be extremely unhappy about.
However, Real Madrid are confident they can keep the player’s services despite the speculation and our landlord feels United will struggle to lure him to Old Trafford, due to their lack of Champions League football.
Will Varane be wearing a United shirt next season? Let us know in the comments below!
