Moussa Sissoko’s Cardiff display left Spurs fans purring

Moussa Sissoko’s Cardiff display left Spurs fans purring - Cardiff City

Yesterday saw Tottenham Hotspur make it 18 points from their first eight Premier League games, the clubs best ever start to a Premier League season. It wasn’t pretty, though, as an Eric Dier goal inside the first 10 minutes secured a 1-0 win. Despite the poor game, there was a standout performer as Moussa Sissoko stepped up to the plate in the scrappy affair.

Ask any Tottenham fan who they’d happily sell from their current squad and one name will come up more than any other. Moussa Sissoko’s time at Tottenham has been tough, the Frenchman signed for £30 million back on deadline day of the summer window in 2016 and ever since he’s been written off by the Lilywhites. Now, though, after a strong display against Cardiff and amid a Tottenham injury crisis, he could be set to change the fans opinions of him.

With Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all missing through injury, Sissoko has the opportunity to step up and get some minutes. The international break has come at the wrong time for Sissoko. The 29-year-old would want to continue building momentum and now he won’t be able to as he faces a 13-day wait until Tottenham play again, away at West Ham, and he’ll be keen to leave his mark on the game.

The Spurs fans were delighted with Sissoko’s shift yesterday and will be keen to see more from the Frenchman whilst he’s in his current vein of form.
