The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern will look back on last night as two points dropped, despite needing a last-minute Andy Carroll goal to come away with anything. David Moyes’ side were in charge for the majority of the game and had three goals chalked disallowed on the night as the club failed to get the rub of the green. Although the fans couldn’t believe they were going into the game with the dangerous Javier Hernandez left on the bench.

The Hammers secured a fantastic point last Sunday when Chicharito came off the bench to net an equaliser at Stamford Bridge in a 1-1 draw, and the fans thought that would be enough to see their Mexican poacher given a chance to lead the line yesterday. This wasn’t the case though, David Moyes’ opted for a front three of Joao Mario, Edimilson Fernandes and Marko Arnautovic. Hernandez didn’t come on with just under 15 minutes to play, although he couldn’t inspire his side to a win, despite having a goal disallowed as Andy Carroll was adjudged to have handled the ball in the build-up.
The team selection frustrated the Hammers who’ve been propping our bar up and the discontent was clear to see. Moyes’ team were visibly better than Paul Lambert’s side, yet they failed to make the breakthrough until late. Peter Crouch eventually opened the scoring on the night with just over ten minutes to go when Hart spilt a tame effort from Xherdan Shaqiri into his path, giving Stoke fans hope that they might get a huge three points, it wasn’t to be though as Carroll tucked away a superb finish to give both sides a result that neither of them needed.
