West Ham supporters have been reasonably satisfied in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side extend their unbeaten Premier League run to five matches with a 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
David Moyes’ men went into their clash with the Cherries having won two and drawn the other two of their preceding four league games, a run which put some distance between themselves and the division’s relegation zone. Yet they were made to work hard for their point at the London Stadium on Saturday as Ryan Fraser gave Eddie Howe’s the lead 19 minutes from time, only for Javier Hernandez to clinch a draw two minutes later with his fifth goal of the campaign.
Subsequently, there have been some happy and some frustrated Hammers in the Tavern this week, although they are all likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The Daily Telegraph, which suggests that Moyes is to turn his attentions to 21-year-old Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz in a bid to bolster his ranks.
The Spain Under-21 international came up through the ranks at the La Liga outfit and has since gone on to make 41 appearances for the senior side, netting two goals and laying on three assists in the process.
And with both goals and two of those assists coming this term, alongside several impressive displays, Fabian continues to go from strength to strength, and reports suggest that Hammers boss Moyes is ‘deliberating’ over making a move for the midfielder as he seeks to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium.
And with the midfield department somewhat short of sufficient depth, it’s a move the West Ham boss may seek to make in the next eight days.
Landlord’s verdict: There has certainly been some improvement at West Ham under new boss David Moyes, but it remains evident that further reinforcements are required this month if the Hammers are to stave off Premier League relegation.
And one man who appears to be on Moyes’ radar is Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz, a 21-year-old midfielder capped three times at Under-21 level by Spain, and certainly proving his worth to the La Liga outfit with two goals and two assists this term.
Moyes is reportedly ‘deliberating’ over making a move for the Spaniard, and with the Hammers arguably a bit light in the central midfield department, and with Manuel Lanzini’s injury hardly going to help, the Scot may indeed see the worth in bringing Fabian to East London.
