Moyes standing firm as ex-boss threatens to derail Sunderland’s survival hopes

Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little jealous of the Crystal Palace fans with them getting Sam Allardyce – but they are pleased with ESPN’s report about their club’s stance on Jermain Defoe.

The ex-England manager was appointed as Palace boss earlier last week as the Eagles got rid of Alan Pardew in a bid to save their season from relegation.

Allardyce famously did just that with Sunderland last year, too, with the help of Jermain Defoe’s goals but any renewal of the pair’s working relationship seems to have had the brakes put on by the Black Cats.

Palace are reportedly interested in a move but it looks like that will not be happening.

Naturally, the Wearsiders want to keep Defoe as long as possible, and so they have been pretty stout in their determination to keep him – according to ESPN.

Sources close to the north east side have reportedly told the outlet that David Moyes does not want to let Defoe go at all and so should Allardyce want him he’ll likely have to stump up quite the offer.

Can you keep Defoe, Sunderland fans? Let us know below!
