Moyes suffers unwelcome West Ham setback amid survival fight

The Hammers here in the Tavern have enjoyed life under David Moyes thus far, although things look to be taking a turn for the worse as injury troubles are causing for concern.

West Ham United have had a torrid time with injuries this season, after the majority of their star men sustaining injuries has halted the progress of the Hammers.

Indeed, with the inspirational Michail Antonio and leader Winston Reid currently out through injury, things got even worse for David Moyes’ side at the weekend. As according to reports in the Mirror, the club suffered news that they hoped they’d never hear, with Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini both set for injury lay-offs.

Manuel Lanzini has been pivotal since David Moyes took over at the club, with goals and assists going a long way to securing a healthy start for the Scot.

Although, he’s now set to be without the Argentine for a month of action, after he suffered a hamstring injury in the weekend’s encounter with Bournemouth.

On the other hand, striker Andy Carroll has been the subject of interest from Chelsea as they looked to bring the Englishman to Stamford Bridge.

But his life at the London Stadium is now set to face implications for a different reason, after scans revealed that he’s suffered a hairline fracture on his foot, with three months out on the sidelines being the likely outcome.

Two injuries that will certainly dampen hopes of keeping Moyes’ seven-game unbeaten streak alive, with some season-defining games coming up in the month of February.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Both players will be huge misses for the Hammers, with a lack of creativity being found in the side without the Argentine being involved. While the missing presence and goalscoring threat of Andy Carroll could see the ineffective Javier Hernandez lead the line.

Two injuries that will either make or break their season.
