The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with David Moyes since the manager moved to the London Stadium. Though not a popular choice amongst our resident Hammers, the Scotsman has done very well at the helm, particularly given that he has inherited a side that is not his own.
Indeed, it’s going to be very interesting to see how West Ham do once Moyes is given a chance to bring in a few faces, and we’re now beginning to get a clearer picture of who exactly could come to the club come January.
According to the Evening Standard, Moyes is targeting Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as he looks to improve his team in January. He’s looking to rival Sam Allardyce’s Everton – who are said to be leading the race – for the midfielder, who has impressed in La Liga over the last few years.
From West Ham’s perspective, a move does make sense. N’Zonzi is a player that has several years of experience at a high level in Spain, whilst he’s also familiar with the Premier League particularly from his spell with Stoke City. A powerful midfielder, he controls games through the middle of the park with his fantastic passing, strength and technique. Indeed, he’s very highly-rated, as proven by the fact that a number of big clubs are keen.
The prospect of this deal is exciting the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Steven N’Zonzi has turned into a fantastic player during his stint in Spain, having really found his role with Sevilla.
He’d no doubt come in and improve Moyes’ options, and a player of his quality is rarely available in January.
