‘My captain’ – Chelsea fans remain in support of lynchpin amid results crisis

Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are disappointed with yesterday’s crushing defeat against Watford, although they’re hopeful that their more experience players can lead the club through tough times.

The Blues’ title winning season of the last seems to be a distant memory as Stamford Bridge has produced some rather hostile environments so far this season, as even a Champions League spot is looking uncertain for the London club. Indeed, Antonio Conte is unfortunately in the eye of the media as all the negative criticism seems to be heading the way of the Italian, as Chelsea’s misfortunes continue to be placed on the shoulders of the 48-year-old.

However, at difficult times like the Blues are currently experiencing, it’s the club’s leaders that have a chance to showcase their quality and class at troubling times for fans, and one man who’s never been shy to standup to criticism is Chelsea’s vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta. Indeed, his leadership qualities not only shine on the pitch for the Pensioners but also play a huge part in lifting the mood of the entire Blues fan base away from the cameras on social media, as Chelsea’s Twitter account took to posting a comment from the Spaniard after yesterday’s defeat.

Following the club’s post, fans were quick to praise the Spaniard for his efforts on and off the pitch as the defender has a place firmly in the hearts of many at Stamford Bridge.
