‘My hero’, ‘Pure class’ – Liverpool fans full of praise for star after latest post on Twitter

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting a good performance against Porto last night, but they were treated to a remarkable display from their players. A win of any kind would have been a good result, but the 5-0 clinic that they put on over in Portugal has essentially put the tie to bed at the first time of asking.

It has been a good few weeks for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp finally able to add a bit of consistency to his team’s game. Whilst they have often in the past won big games and lost fixtures shortly thereafter, they appear to finally be moving past this – with wins coming more often than not as of late.

They’ve hit form at just the right time, and as a result, their prospects both in the Premier League and in Europe look positive. That was certainly evident last night.

Following the game, fans have pointed towards a lot of great performances. Roberto Firmino impressed, whilst Sadio Mane and Mo Salah were their usual deadly selves too. However, one player that is getting a particularly large dose of praise of Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman hasn’t been at his best over the last few weeks, but he’s looked great in Liverpool’s last two games, and he appears to be settling in well at Anfield.

Following the game, fans have taken to Twitter to discuss his performance after the Dutchman discussed his Champions League debut for the Reds over on Twitter. Unsurprisingly, he’s proving to be a popular player.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
