What an amazingly exciting Premiership season we’ve enjoyed in 2011/12. There have been more twists and turns than the average thriller novel. Now we can look back over such an eventful season we thought we’d look at the best ten goals of the 1,066 scored:
Cisse created a goal in a moment of genius rom a seemingly harmless position out wide. Ameobi knocked the ball down and Cisse hit a looping, swerving half volley that flew past Cech in he Chelsea goal and into the corner of the net. Drogba is seen on the sidelines looking away in disbelief and Pardue is seen exclaiming ‘unbelievable’.
Probably one of the most stylish ways to complete a hatrick in Premiership history. Long ball played up to Suarez. From 40 yards out Suarez looks up to see Norwich keeper Ruddy off his line. Cue an unbelievably audacious chip looping over the back peddling keepers head and nestling in the net.
Ben Arfa recieves the ball in his own half, flicking the ball past his marker and swivelling his body the other way leaving him dead. He charges down the middle leaving all comers behind. He tears through the centre between both centre backs and side foots it past the oncoming keeper.
With the ball knocked back to him the former Spurs and Liverpool striker took one touch to knock it up and then smashed an unstoppable volley which looped over Hart in the City goal and into the corner of the net.
The Premiership top scorer of the season’s best goal must be the goal against Everton. Great passing move by Arsenal, great ball to the Dutchman on the edge of the box by Song and a clinical volley finish giving the keeper Howard no chance.
The Liverpool centre-half opened his Liverpool account by acrobatically scissor kicking a spooned Rangers clearance powerfully back into the net before the keeper had chance to react.
Obviously he didn’t mean it but what a goal! Ball comes back to Howard inside his penalty box and he gets everything behind it to power it downfield. The ball bounce once and kicks off the surface looping over the unlucky keeper Bogdan.
Ball comes square to Assou-Ekotto. He takes a few touches and sets himself. Then he hits a powerful straight shot across Howard in the Everton goal giving the keeper no chance.
Screemer of a free kick from the Spurs defender. Who knew he could take such a good free kick? Curles the ball around the Blackburn wall. Swings back inside just enough to get the right side of the post.
Great tenacity from the Arsenal winger. Ends up on his front after tripping over the ball taking on the Chelsea defence. But the winger is up in the blink of an eye and uses the opportunity to ghost past three more defenders and slot the ball past Cech at the near post.
