The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Arsene Wenger’s update on Laurent Koscielny, who was stretchered off after just 12 minutes against Atletico Madrid last night. The French centre-back has a history of problems with his Achilles’ tendons and has previously had injections into them just to feature.

The sight of seeing a teammate stretchered off the pitch in excruciating pain is sure to affect you mentally whilst playing football, but for it to happen to your club captain in a European semi-final is really tough. That’s what the Arsenal players were faced with when they lost Laurent Koscielny to a suspected ruptured Achilles last night at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid last night as they bowed out of the Europa League to a Diego Costa goal.
Despite the loss, the fans concerns for Koscielny has been one of the main talking points. The 32-year-old will have to undergo scans to find out the severity of the injury, although it looks like his season is over and his World Cup chances are near zero. Arsenal will be gutted to have lost their captain and star defender in the loss, although with just three games remaining in their season, the Gunners will be keen to just get into pre-season under a new manager and hopefully with Koscielny back fit and playing soon.

Regardless of the result, always sad to see a player badly injured.
Get well soon, captain

Needs to be sold or replaced to many injury prone players at the club can't get through a full season.

Crushed for you Kos. Downside, full year to recover. Upside, can come back and more durable than before. Yeah, I speak from experience.

People are harming on him and forgetting how many times he saved the time and won games for us. Don’t let the bitterness of our exit be happy that a loyal servant to the club miss the World Cup for his last run, Best Wishes Captain!

Regardless of today’s game, hope he recovers quickly.
Get well soon hero
