‘Never have any respect for him’ – Newcastle United fans react as pundit takes to Twitter

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Match of the Day and BT Sport pundit, Jermaine Jenas as he took to Twitter to congratulate Rafa Benitez and the Newcastle squad for their fantastic work this season. The former Magpie found himself in hot water last month as he slated the club claiming that playing for Newcastle prevented him from fulfilling his potential, leading to Alan Shearer hitting back at the 35-year-old.

Despite turning out at St James Park for two and a half years between 2002 and 2005, the Magpies propping our bar up aren’t so fond of their former midfielder, Jermaine Jenas. At the start of last month, the pundit made some very revealing comments whilst talking on BT Sport where he claimed the levels at Newcastle weren’t as high as they were with England. The comments lead to a Twitter storm as a number of angry Geordies slated Jenas.

Now though, the fans are enjoying reading the 35-year-old’s comments congratulating the club as they’ve now won their last four games on the bounce after putting Arsenal to the sword 2-1 at St James Park yesterday. The Tyneside club are now a whopping 13 points clear of the drop zone and Rafa Benitez has been receiving the praise he deserves for guiding to Newcastle to 10th with a below-par squad and one of the division’s smallest budgets.
