The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are convinced that success is on the horizon…
It’s been a stellar few weeks for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with the club now into the top three in the Premier League. They had a tough start to the campaign, but they’ve rebounded magnificently.
It’s clear that Pochettino’s methods are working, but he might need a while yet to implement them. They’ve come closer and closer every year to winning the big one, and whilst it remains to be seen whether this is their year, it’s clear that success is forthcoming at some point soon.
Crucial to that prospect, though, is the retention of Tottenham’s most important figures. According to Gary Neville, though, fans need not worry about their respective futures.
According to Sky Sports, Neville said: “Dele Alli, Pochettino and Kane aren’t going anywhere. Daniel Levy wouldn’t let them go anywhere”.
He added: “Whether he [Levy] re-negotiates contracts is another matter but they’ve got a great chance in the next 18 months because that squad will stay together”.
Neville seems convinced, and with good reason. There is clearly a very exciting project happening at Tottenham at present, and these three players are all crucial to that.
As the manager, Pochettino forms the foundations of the success, whilst Dele Alli and Harry Kane have been the standout players over the last year or so. The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for them to remain.
Most clubs would let players go if they are offered enough, but Daniel Levy has proven in recent years that he drives a very hard bargain. The market price of the likes of Kane and Alli would be astronomical, and if Levy has his way, he’d usually demand three or four times that number before he even considers a sale.
Given that, and given how safe Mauricio Pochettino’s job is at Tottenham, there is reason for real optimism at the club.
