New Chelsea boss keen to sign Man United’s international defender

DarmianChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to surprise news this morning, after they heard their club is keen to sign a player from Manchester United.

Bleacher Report state that incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring compatriot Matteo Darmian to Stamford Bridge, with the Italian facing an uncertain future at Manchester United just one-year after signing for the club.

Darmian endured a mixed first season at Old Trafford, where he made a host of appearances but struggled for fitness. Now, with Jose Mourinho taking charge, it’s widely reported the former Torino defender will be offloaded this summer.

Italian giants Juventus have been heavily linked with the full-back’s signature but Conte is set to go toe-to-toe with his former employers, as it’s stated the Italian boss will enquire about Darmian’s services.

Whether United would be prepared to sell to a rival club remains to be seen but it continues Conte’s aim to build a Chelsea outfit full of players he can rely upon, having worked with them before.

Would Darmian be a good fit at Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below!
