Chelsea fans are on cloud nine in the Transfer Tavern after finally seeing Antonio Conte confirmed as their new manager and he seems to be already identifying big targets for the club.
The Independent states Conte has cast his eye on Everton star Romelu Lukaku and is ready to go toe-to-toe with Manchester United to sign the Belgian, who left Chelsea just under two years ago in a £28m deal.
Lukaku has gone from strength-to-strength since moving to Goodison Park and has established himself as one of the leading strikers in the Premier League, with Chelsea experiencing his talents first-hand as Everton dumped the Blues out of the FA Cup.
With Lukaku making it publicly clear he wants Champions League football, a saga has begun this summer in the hunt for his signature and, despite their own lack of European football at the elite level next term, Lukaku has been identified as a key-target.
Chelsea currently have just Diego Costa as their only reliable striking option at Stamford Bridge and the Spaniard continues to be linked with a move away from west London, whilst Alexandre Pato, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are all likely to depart in the close season.
Was selling Lukaku the worst mistake Chelsea have made in recent years? Let us know in the comments below!
