Chelsea fans have been gathered on the Transfer Tavern sofas for what feels like an eternity, eagerly awaiting confirmation of their new boss, but the news they’re waiting for seems to be edging closer.
The Sun states Antonio Conte will juggle two roles heading into this summer’s international tournament, as he’ll take charge of Chelsea before the European Championships in France- where he’ll be looking to help Italy redeem themselves after a woeful World Cup two years ago.
With the Blues ending their season on May 15th and Italy’s first warm-up game for the Euro’s taking place on the 29th, Conte has a two-week gap and a Chelsea insider has stated he’ll start work in west London during that gap.
“This is the buzz around the club. It’s not even been officially confirmed that he will be the new manager but it’s widely thought he’ll be popping over to England to start work on rebuilding Chelsea — mainly to introduce himself and to get cracking.”
With Chelsea being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in the last week, the Blues season will end prematurely without any success and a major overhaul is required to make the team competitive again next term.
