New Chelsea boss wants to make Serie A veteran his first Blues signing

Stephan LichtsteinerChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether a reported signing will be worth it, after hearing reports Antonio Conte has set his sights on a first signing during his Blues reign.

The Sun states Conte is targeting Juventus’ veteran defender Stephan Lichsteiner as his first signing for Chelsea but he also has his sights set on a new midfielder.

Conte, who will take charge at Stamford Bridge after Italy’s venture in the European Championship, wants to raid his former employers in a £12m swoop for the Swiss star, with the Turin giants closing in on the signature of Dani Alves.

32-year-old Lichtsteiner is keen to leave Juventus for a new challenge after winning the Serie A title in each of his five seasons in Turin- and the Premier League seems to be his most likely destination.

Along with Lichsteiner, Conte is also targeting Italian international Stefano Sturaro as he looks to bolster his midfield ranks thoroughly.

Chelsea fans, would Lichtsteiner be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below!
