New Chelsea manager determined to keep star striker at club

Costa 4Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are preparing themselves for a major summer and it seems their suspected new manager is identifying his own plans for the club.

The Evening Standard state Antonio Conte, who’s widely expected to succeed Guus Hiddink as Chelsea boss this summer, is keen to ensure Diego Costa stays put at Stamford Bridge.

Costa is allegedly unhappy in the Premier League, where he feels he’s been victimised by the media and the Football Association, which has led to major speculation that his former employers Atletico Madrid will make a move to re-sign the Spanish international.

With Chelsea likely to see Radamel Falcao, Loic Remy and Alexandre Pato leaving Stamford Bridge, losing Costa too would leave Antonio Conte with a wealth of business to do- and no Champions League football to lure his top-targets.

If he remains fully focused, Conte believes Costa can be a major asset to the Blues and that view is backed-up by the Spaniard’s tally of 11 goals in 16 matches under Hiddink, who has rejuvenated the Chelsea side since taking over in the midway stage of the season.
