The lads at the Football Transfer Tavern were pleased to hear that Chelsea are set to offer Frank Lampard a new one-year contract as reported by the Daily Telegraph.
The Blues hierarchy have been impressed with the former West Ham United midfielder and it was believed that he would be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, but Lampard hasn’t kicked up a fuss, instead going about his business in a dignified and professional manner admirably.
The England star is close to becoming Chelsea’s all-time record goalscorer and so a new one year contract would certainly be justified.
The Blues fans want to see their club legend stay and feel he has been harshly treated by the board in this contract war.
Fellow member of the Blues old guard Ashley Cole has earned a new one-year contract and so now it is Lampard’s turn to be rewarded.
How many years at the top does Lampard have left in him? Let us know your thoughts below.
