According to talkSPORT, Roma are looking to ward off interest from the Red Devils in Kevin Strootman and hope a significant pay rise will put an end to the speculation.
It was revealed yesterday by Roma’s official Twitter account that the 24-year-old has returned to training with heavy strapping on his right knee, where Strootman of course suffered a horrific injury to his cruciate ligament.
After Strootman successfully recovered, the Giallorossi now hope to take the next step and tie the former PSV Eindhoven man down to extended terms.
Punters have forever heard talk in the tavern linking him with a move to Old Trafford which would of course reunite him with Louis van Gaal who coached him during his time as manager of the Netherlands.
Despite United’s interest, the player’s contract at Roma still currently has four years remaining and the Serie A giants have no hesitation in offering him a new bumper deal.
