Arsenal and Everton fans are left scratching their heads in the Football Transfer Tavern as one of their transfer targets has been offered a new contract by his club in an attempt to ward off interest from the Gunners and Toffees.
According to talkSPORT, Colombian international Carlos Bacca has been handed a new contract by Sevilla as interest is hotting up as the January transfer window approaches.
Arsenal fans have been begging for an out-and-out goalscorer in the tavern for years and despite their recent acquisition of Danny Welbeck, they still think they’re lacking a natural finisher.
Whilst Everton are also looking to bolster their frontline as well as to add depth but with this desire in mind, Sevilla are willing to offer Bacca a big pay rise to keep him at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
But there is a lot of doubt in regards to his commitment to the Andalusian team because if the 28-year-old did sign a new contract, it wouldn’t extend the length of the deal which expires in 2018 while the contract would still include his £23.5 million release clause.
He is a pacey and persistent striker who would look comfortable in the Premier League after scoring 18 La Liga goals in 41 appearances.
Arsenal and Everton fans. Would you pay £15 million + for Carlos Bacca or would you prefer to sign a striker who has been there and done it in the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
