England U20’s are aiming to make history this weekend when they go up against Venezuela in the U20’s World Cup final.
The final, taking place in Suwon, South Korea, is England’s first domestic final since that famous 1966 win over Germany in the senior World Cup.
The Liverpool fans lining the bar here in the pub have been excited to see new signing Dominic Solanke in action, with the former Chelsea man shining in the tournament and being just one goal behind the leading goalscorer.
And the new addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad is in a bullish mood ahead of the big game and believes that this is the time for England to shine on the big stage once more.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Solanke said: “It’s our time- everyone will be rooting for us back home so hopefully we can make them proud.
‘The determination we have is what drives us on. We know that even if we’re losing we can bring it back. The disappointment we had in the U-19 Euros last year [losing in the semi-final], we know that feeling, so we want to go and win this time,” he added.
The stage for the big final against unlikely finalists Venezuela is now all set and the young Lions will surely be driven on with the knowledge that the senior side have struggled for so many years in the big competitions.
