Our resident Blues fans are somewhat torn regarding the summer transfer window. Regarding the additions made to Conte’s starting eleven, there has been a significant increase in quality in comparison to last season.
Alvaro Moarta, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko all provide longevity, they also offer experience and quality in abundance.
The issue lies with squad depth, five first-team additions have been made by the Premier League Champions while a number of players have departed the Blues this summer.
Indeed, if prominent first-team members are injured, then the Champions will be left in a precarious situation. This is why the deadline day arrivals of Davide Zappacosta and Danny Drinkwater were so crucial, as they provide invaluable cover in two critical positions.
Still, Chelsea’s squad is likely to look very different this season as it did last term – with a number of new players to choose from.
